London Blockchain Conference
A guest-facing companion experience for a three-day conference: plan your sessions, book meetings, message other attendees, earn points for taking part and redeem them for food, drinks or merchandise. I architected it twice — and the second version was deliberately simpler than the first.
The product
Everything an attendee needs during an event, in one place: session attendance and scheduling, meeting booking and networking, in-app messaging, branded event content, a gamified point-collection loop, and physical reward redemption. The same shape works almost unchanged in hospitality — room service, bookings, wake-up calls, loyalty points and guest messaging are the same problem wearing a different name.
2024 — first iteration
RainFocus supplied the conference platform and its white-label mobile application. Rather than build a client from scratch under a hard event deadline, we injected a webview-based wallet experience into that application. The digital-collectible integration went through Asset Layer, which wrapped HandCash.
- Designed the overall architecture and the integration plan.
- Designed the webview wallet integration inside RainFocus's white-label app.
- Designed a proxy and data layer around RainFocus to take back control of external data flows and make the integration more reliable.
- Aligned the technical and business stakeholders involved in delivery, and resolved integration issues through development and deployment.
2025 — second iteration
For the following year we built our own mobile application on top of the RainFocus APIs instead of relying on the white-label app as the primary client, and connected directly to HandCash rather than through Asset Layer. One fewer provider in the chain, and considerably more control over the experience.
- Contributed hands-on mobile development to the standalone application.
- Implemented the gamification logic for earning tokens and collectibles, along with the content attached to those rewards.
- Implemented the platform's provider integration directly against HandCash.
Measured results — 2024
Of 2,620 ticket holders, 252 registered as wallet users — roughly 9.6%. Across the three days, 43,553 tokens were allocated to users and 28,925 were transferred between attendees over 677 transfers, alongside 558 minted collectibles and 1,882 on-chain transactions in total. The 2025 event sold 5,000 tickets; detailed usage statistics for that iteration are not available to me.
